The scientists of the Deaprtment of the Atomic Nucleus of SINP developed a test model of the high-accuracy displacement transducer for the positioning in the high-precision automated equipment used, in particular, onboard spacecrafts and as part of robotic devices. This research was conducted within the frames of the State contract N 14.513.11.0116 of the Federal program "Research and developement in the priority areas of the Russian scientific and technological complex development during 2007-2013".

For the first time the developed device is based on the method of analysis of multiplicative response of a set of several (minimum two) high-sensitive magnetic field sensors operated on the basis of gigantic magnetoresistance effect to the displacement of the magnetic mark along the sensors. The accuracy of the operating volume positioning prvided by the developed device is accuracy up to 2 mkm.

Currently in the world there are no analogues of such a high-accuracy displacement transducer based on micro-sized high-sensitive magnetic field sensors operated on the basis of gigantic magnetoresistance. Therefore the scientists applied for a patent for the developed facility.
